Nighttime Is Time To Relax
Watching the late night news on television. Reading that last email before turning off the lights. Surfing the web from the comfort of your bed.
These pre-bedtime activities are common. In fact, 95% of people use some type of electronic device within an hour of sleeping. 1
We may think it relaxes us, but it really has the opposite effect. The artificial light from electronic gizmos makes you more alert. It can even mess with your circadian rhythm.1 So put down your phone, close your laptop, and turn off your TV at least an hour before jumping into bed.
There are other steps you can take to improve your chances of falling asleep quickly: Do any household chores hours before bedtime, exercise in the morning instead of at night, and try to avoid evening stress.
Reserve your nighttime for relaxation. Curl up with a book or listen to music. If your mind is still spinning as you near bedtime, take a moment to write down your thoughts and then forget about them until morning.
By observing good habits, you’ll start getting the restful night’s sleep you need. If you’re still having trouble, Unisom can help you fall asleep fast and stay asleep.
